  • The Asian Development Bank has committee USD 10 billion to support infrastructure building and immediate development needs of less developed states in India. This was declared by ADB President Takehiko Nakao during his 3 day visit to India.

  • Germany has now legalized same-sex marriage. It had already permitted same-sex couples to enter into civil partnerships since 2001. Though German Chancellor and conservative Angela Merkel voted against the legislation, she allowed her fellow party member to vote according to their conscience.
  • Ankit Kawatra, anti-hunger activist, was awarded the Queen’s Young Leaders Award for 2017 by queen Elizabeth II for his exceptional work towards solving hunger and malnutrition in India. He is the founder of Feeding India.
  • USA plans to sell 1 C-17 transport aircraft to India manufactured by Boeing. It includes one Missile Warning System, one countermeasures dispensing system, one identification friend or foe transponder and precision navigation equipment.
  • 31st Anniversary of the signing of the historic Mizo peace accord was celebrated. This accord was signed by Mizo National Front leader Laldenga, Mizoram Chief Secretary Lalkhama and Union Home Secretary R D Pradhan.
  • NASA launched the Terrier-improved Malemute sounding rocket that created artificial clouds, from the Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia.
  • The SIERRA ODC building has received the World’s second highest green rating after scoring 103/110 under LEED certification.
  • The 11th Statistics day was celebrated on 29th June. The theme for this year was Administrative Statistics. This day is celebrated to recognize the contributions of Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis.
