Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) – Patna, the organising University of CLAT 2017, has put up the details regarding CLAT 2017 on the official CLAT website. CLAT 2017 will be held on 14th of May 2017.

What do we know so far?

  3. To be eligible, you also have to score at least 45% of marks in the 10+2 examinations. For SC/ST category students, this is relaxed to 40%.
  4. Application for CLAT 2017 will be online only. There is no requirement of sending any hard copies to the organisers. Applications will start from 1st of January 2017 and can be filled up to 31st of March 2017.

    • More than half the GK section will be of current affairs. But I’d suggest that you prepare both of them at once. So if there is news on the Prime Minister of Canada issuing an apology for the Komagata Maru incident, you can Google for it and also find out about the Gadr movement. Be curious to find more and more information on your own. That’s the key.

  1. I haven’t gone through the official syllabus that was released in other years, so I had a few clarifications with regards to the notification for CLAT 2017 –

    1) The English Section mentions only Comprehension and Grammar. Are things like para-jumbles ever explicitly mentioned or do they come under the latter category?

    2) For GK, did any of the syllabus of the preceding years ever mention a time period? If so, how many months prior to the examination did they generally include?

    Thank You

    • 1. Grammar includes para-jumbles and the like.
      2. Yes. CLAT 2014 had mentioned a specific time span which was March 2013 to March 2014. But from CLAT 2015, they omitted this strict time-period. This means that they can ask a question from 2010 as well. But, to be safe, we suggest that you do news from March 2016 to April 2017 thoroughly. You can do older stuff if you have time.

  2. Hey thanks for all the info… But I am more concerned about choosing the NLU(s)… How to do that? Please make help… Please please!
