The National Law University, Delhi has come out with its detailed notification for the AILET that it shall conduct on the 1st of May, 2011. NLUD is an upcoming NLU with huge potential to break into the top tier, very soon.

There are seventy seats open to Indian nationals while the rest ten seats are filled with foreign nationals.

The pattern and specifics are as follows:

Total Marks

: 150

Total number of questions

: 150

Duration of the Examination

: 1 hour 30 minutes

English : 35 marks

General Knowledge : 35 marks, comprising current affairs, general science, history, geography, economics, civics

Legal Aptitude: 35 marks

Reasoning: 35 marks

Elementary Mathematics(Numerical Ability) : 10 marks.

What’s the deal?

Unlike CLAT 2011 you can expect static GK in the NLUD AILET. Also the current affairs questions are usually very ‘current’ and of considerable importance and not obscure information.

The notification mentions ‘Legal Aptitude’ so we cannot totally rule out Legal Knowledge but as it is with NLUD, we expect only Legal Reasoning questions of a very commendable standard.

Personal Advice:

When I finished my NLUD paper 10 minutes before the time limit most people in my centre told me either my paper had gone really well or I had messed it up big time. The main trick in this exam is speed. You shall be literally racing against time while doing this paper and unlike CLAT you are sure to be in considerable hurry while solving it.

Therefore the strategy is : ‘FAST AND ACCURATE’.

Do please solve all the past NLUD papers on OMR sheets (procure these sheets from somewhere), as the ‘art of bubbling’ might just be a make or break factor. You need to be practised in it and be accurate, speed being of the utmost importance. I used to always solve the GK section first and I had my own order of solving the other sections, but this should be based on personal prefernces and competencies with the relevant sections. Last year’s paper did not have the sections marked out so don’t waste time flipping through pages trying to find your section of comfort first. Get the paper and jump at it!

With the good God’s grace I managed to get AIR 2 in the exam. Rupali was AIR 4, another of our CG editors. Both of us agree that NLUD is not just a wonderful paper in terms of the level of reasoning but it also tests your accuracy, given the time factor.

That’s all the Gyan as of now!

Cheers!

  2. Hey, they say the DD, for the Previous Years’s Papers should be drawn in favour of ‘Registrar, National Law University, Delhi’.
I happen to have sent the DD yesterday morning in favour of ‘NLU Delhi’.
    Think they’ll accept it?

PS : Do correct the same on your post regarding the Previous Years’ Papers.

  3. Ok Premangsu here has quoted me out of context. That is what I told him since he is an LST kid and keeping in mind, his preparation. Generally, please follow what I prescribed in the above post.

  4. Achha has anybody filled the NLU D form yet ?
    I had some doubts –
    a) In the category section there are 8 blocks. So if I am a general candidate..will I have to tick any of the first two or both or only the first ?
    b) Will I staple the four pages or just let them be the way they are ?
    c) If I am born on the 1st…what shall I write in the ‘day’ section of AGE. 0 ??

  5. @ Divya – LST ? U ask me. 😀
It’s never too late for anything in LST…just make sure that you are carrying your purse with all the ‘proper’ notes inside. Good Luck 🙂

  7. @Premangsu : Thanks. You make a compelling case. Makes me feel I should have joined LST. :-/ But, then again, one mock from clatgyan was convincing enough to rid me of the guilt, no flattery intended. :-D. I’m taking the LST Mocks very soon though.
