It was worth it in the end

Reflecting on how things could’ve been,

It was worth it in the end.

All the things we’ve done, and all the things we’ve seen.

All those days spent by the lake,

All those castles we built in air,

The dreams we dreamt, the things we put at stake.

Our hopes and ideals shone without fear,

Fluttered and flew in the soft breeze.

We made our way by finding what was real.

As time passed on, the hours ticking past,

We started to grow up and all the promises disappeared one by one,

Our dreams changed and the ideals didn’t seem to last.

When there was nobody left to blame,

And it seemed like I made one mistake after the other,

I knew then, that nothing could ever be the same.

We were reaching for something that was already gone,

Empty echoes that had nowhere left to go,

The words were missing but I could still her the faint rhythm of my song.

Of all the things I still remember,

Time just seems to fly, but the memories remain.

Little things that refuse to go away, bubbles that last forever.

Reflecting now, on how things could’ve been,

It seems to be worth it in the end.

All the things we’ve done, and all the things we’ve seen.

Every wrong step led to a new direction,

Every lost dream found me in the end,

Every wrong answer found a new question.

It was worth it in the end.

  1. Thank you kastubh, raji and rashi 🙂 and KK I was in fact listening to this song while writing the poem so I guess bits of it inadvertently creeped in 🙂 But I sincerely hope it’s not taken as plagiarism as that was definitely not my intention. Nevertheless thank you for your feedback!
