1.  Find A:B:C when A:B is 6:5 and B:C IS 7:8





2.  Divide Rs. 975 among Asad and Sandipan in the ratio 2 1/3 : 1 5/6





3.  Molly bought two heads of cabbage for $1.80. How many heads of cabbage can Willie buy if he has $28.80?





4.  Mary reduced the size of a painting to a width of 3.3 in. What is the new height if it was originally 32.5 in tall and 42.9 in wide?





5.  Sahana took a trip to Mexico. Upon leaving she decided to convert all of her Pesos back into dollars. How many dollars did she receive if she exchanged 42.7 Pesos at a rate of $5.30 = 11.1 Pesos?





6.  A group of pupils hire a bus, at a fixed price, to go on a field trip. Initially 44 pupils were due to go on the trip at a cost of 9 euros per head but on the day there were 33 students on the bus. What was the cost per head for them?





7.  When 1,000 pounds of paper are recycled or reused, 17 trees are saved. How many trees are saved if 7,000 pounds of paper is recycled?





8.  There are two sisters named Mary and Sue who need to buy a present for their mother’s birthday. The perfume there mother likes is $50 dollars a bottle. Mary is the older sister and she gets more allowance money than her little sister, so they have decided that Mary will give $3 for every $2 dollars her sister gives. For every $15 Mary (the older sister) gives, how much does the younger sister give?





9.  Calculate x if 4:15 = 16:x





10.  Jack and Jill went up the hill to pick apples and pears. Jack picked 10 apples 15 pears and Jill picked 20 apples and some pears. The ratio of apples to pears picked by both Jack and Jill were the same. Determine how many pears Jill picked.





11.  A sum of money is to be distributed among Rupali, Anjanaa, Malika, Dorothy in the proportion of 5 : 2 : 4 : 3. If Malika gets Rs. 1000 more than Dorothy, what is Anjanaa's share?





12.  In a bag, there are coins of 25 p, 10 p and 5 p in the ratio of 1 : 2 : 3. If there is Rs. 30 in all, how many 5 p coins are there?





13.  Two number are in the ratio 3 : 5. If 9 is subtracted from each, the new numbers are in the ratio 12 : 23. The smaller number is:





14.  The salaries A, B, C are in the ratio 2 : 3 : 5. If the increments of 15%, 10% and 20% are allowed respectively in their salaries, then what will be new ratio of their salaries?





15.  If a doctor prescribes 30 units of insulin in 500 ml to be administered over 2 hours, how many drops per hour should be administered if the set is calibrated to deliver 20 drops per ml?





16.  If 24 men working for 12 hrs a day can do a piece of work in 16days, in how many days can 8 men working 6 hours a day do it?





17.  Given two numbers are in the ratio of 3:4. If 8 is added to each of them, their ratio is changed to 5:6. Find the two numbers.





18.  A garrison has provisions for 120 soldiers for 240 days. After 180 days 60 more soldiers will join the group. For how many MORE days will the provisions last?





19.  Three numbers are in the ratio 6:8:16 and the sum of these numbers when multiplied by 2 is 1950. Find the three numbers.





20.  If 0.75 :x :: 5 : 8, then x is equal to:





21.  If x :y = 3 : 4, find (4x + 5y) : (5x - 2y).





22.  If twelve inches correspond to 30.48 centimeters, how many centimeters are there in thirty inches?





23.  The tax on a property with an assessed value of $70 000 is $1 100. What is the assessed value of a property if the tax is $1 400? (Rounded of to the nearest dollar)





24.  One piece of pipe 21 meters long is to be cut into two pieces, with the lengths of the pieces being in a 2 : 5 ratio. What are the lengths of the pieces?





25.  Find the unknown value in the proportion: 2 :x = 3 : 9.
