Demand and Supply – How to get Hold of Previous Years Papers?
Tuesday, August 30, 2011, 14:40
One of the Major questions being asked by almost all the visitors on our site is how to get hold of the previous years question papers. And as far as papers are concerned, It is advised that you do all the NLSIU – Bangalore, NALSAR – Hyderabad, WBNUJS – Kolkata and NLU – Delhi question papers. And as far as CLAT papers are concerned, I personally advise you to solve only the 2008, 2011 and 2012 papers.
CLAT 2009 as you all must know was leaked and the paper set eventually did not meet the CLAT standards. So in all probability it won’t really help you for CLAT 2013, especially when the new pattern is being consdiered. So I suggest not to go through the 2009 CLAT paper.
1. For NLSIU, Bangalore papers:
The past 20 years’ NLSIU question papers (1988 – 2007) and CLAT 2008-2010 papers are available for the price of Rs.950/-. The payment can be made by Demand Draft in favour of “NLSIU” payable at Bangalore. Prices are inclusive of delivery charges. The draft can be sent to the address given below.
National Law School of India University,
P.O. Bag 7201, Nagarbhavi,
Bangalore – 560 242.
2. For NALSAR, Hyderabad papers:
The past 13 years’ question papers including the 2007 paper are available for Rs. 650/- by post. The payment can be made by DD in favour of “Registrar, NALSAR University of Law” payable at Hyderabad to the address given below.
NALSAR University of Law,
3-5-874/18, Adjacent to Apollo Hospital,
Hyderguda, Hyderabad – 500 029.
3. For WBNUJS papers:
The last 7 years question papers (2000 – 2007) including the 2007 paper can be availed of by sending a demand draft of Rs.450. The demand draft must be in favour of “WB NUJS, Kolkata” payable at Kolkata. This request along with the payment can be sent to
The West Bengal National University Of Juridical Sciences (NUJS),
12, LB-Block, Sector-III,
Salt Lake, Kolkata – 700 098.
4. For NLU – Delhi papers:
The last 3 years question papers (2008 – 2010) can be availed of by sending a demand draft of Rs.550. The demand draft must be in favour of “NLU Delhi” payable at New Delhi. The DD along with a letter which has your address can be sent to :
National Law University – Delhi,
Sector 14, Dwarka,
New Delhi – 110078
5. For NLU – Orissa papers:
The last 2 years question papers (2009 & 2010) can be availed of by sending a demand draft of Rs.500. The demand draft must be in favour of “Registrar, NLU Orissa” payable at Cuttack. The DD along with a letter which has your address should be sent to :
National Law University – Orissa,
C.B.- 8, Cantonment Road,
ORISSA – 753001.
Alright guys I hope this information suffices and answers all your questions.
As far as preparations with respect to papers go, Personally, I had not touched the GK section as the current GK would be of that year and no use to you. You can practice all the other sections from these papers. I would strongly advise you to solve the Logical reasoning sections of these papers. Also in the earlier papers there were subjective questions which will not be a part of your CLAT so you need not solve them.
It goes without saying that you have to pay attention to the NUJS past years’ papers because they will be setting your CLAT 2011 paper. It might just help you to get used to their pattern of questions.
Well that’s about it. If there are any more questions please don’t hesitate to post questions to ClatGyan. We are always there to help you.
The following notes form the opinion of our CLATGyan GK Editor Aymen Mohammed:
[Note 1: While Nishant has spoken about how the GK section in these papers will be of no use. I disagree, it is my suggestion that you guys solve the GK section as well, especially of CLAT 2008 because, only when you go through these questions will you learn what you “ought to” read and what you are reading.
Note 2: And if you find the whole exercise of past years’ papers to be too expensive, as I did, it would be my suggestion that you only concentrate on a combination of any two of the papers, ideally NLSIU and NALSAR. It is paramount, however, that you get a hand of what sort of questions are asked]
[Thanks to Vishaal who gave us the details of NLU Delhi and NLU Orissa]
